• to maintain game balance.
• to get ideas for future TPs
• to make sure that we aren't overstepping the bounds of canon
• to make sure the characters are realistic.

Adding to your background after approval defeats many if not all of these reasons and will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to:

• adding a notorious relative
• adding abilities that are not gained through classes here or interactions with fellow students
• adding familial connections
• connecting IG characters by blood when the relationship wasn't outlined in the background previously

We are not saying that these things can't happen in the game. We are saying they can not happen after the fact. You can not, after being on the grid, suddenly decide that your character is related to Peter Pettigrew or that your family has had ties to the Death Eaters. You can also not suddenly add that your character has been an empath since birth.
