HP:Background

One of the easiest ways to get ideas for your info is to write something that answers a variety of basic questions. Sort of like twenty questions. Most +info's are organized as chronological biographies.

1. Where do you and your family come from? Or are you an orphan? If so, what happened to your family? If you don't know, simply mention who has raised you up to this point - in Wizard society this is typically some member of your family - muggle or magical. It could also be a foster family.
2. Who is in your family? What sort of work do your parents do? What's your relationship with your family like? Is your family well known for some particular quality or feat? In this theme it is important to mention whether your family is muggle or pureblood wizard.
3. When was the first time that you showed evidence of magical talent? Describing this event can be very telling.
4. Does your character have any particular interests, hobbies or talents? Well known ambitions? Motivating ideals? Political causes? What motivates your character from day to day?
5. If you are a student or graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you can write an &info-<house name>. Here you can describe what other members of your house might think of when someone says to them: "Tell me about <your name>." Are you known for good grades? Your pranks? Your loud snore in the dorm?
6. If your character is an adult, describe their magical career. Where did they train and how well did they do? Are they known for any particular event? What sort of experience do they have in their chosen field?
7. For background information that you don't want commonly known about your character but you are planning to use for TPs hooks in the future, use the &info-staff attribute. Only you and the staff can see this particular type of info and we encourage you to use this type of info as it helps us all stay on the same page. This is a good place for you to mention any connections your family may have with the Death Eaters, or a tragic event in your past. As staff we ask that you include anything that might motivate your character's actions so that we're on the same page.

As always, spelling, grammar, and punctuation are important in your info. In order to get approved you need to be coherent! Keep this in mind, and seriously consider using a word processing program offline as it both helps correct these problems and gives you a reason to have offline backup of your Masterpiece!
