HP:Magic Use

There are two rather set in stone rules regarding magic use. The first is simple.

No character will cast a spell that is not in the books without getting staff approval first.

The second will need a bit of clarification.

The basic policy is if the spell does not appear in your +myspells, you can't cast it.

Now, that being said there are circumstances under which that might not be 100% correct. If you attend a class and a spell is taught, the teacher should add that spell to your repetoire. But in some cases it might not happen immediately, if this is the case please +mail the teacher and +cc Kayleigh and Amy so it can be fixed ASAP. In some cases we may have put a spell at a wrong level and that needs to be corrected, in this case +mail Kayleigh and Amy with the spell in question and your justification (a quote from the book perhaps) showing that the spell should be available at a different year than it is showing for the game.

Note: Please keep in mind that your +myspells list only shows spells for the last year you completed. If you are a third year, do not expect to have full run of third year spells until the summer after your third year. As a third year you will have access to all of the second year spells and below.
