Antipathy
Have you ever felt so beaten down
you just don't feel it any more
numbness settles in
and you almost wish for the presence of pain
so that you could tell whether or not you were still alive
have you ever felt so lonely
that you considered catching the eye of some stranger on the street
for some sense of contact with another human being
have you ever decided that hatred
is not some overwhelming sense
of anger or rage
but rather an absence of everything
so that you take the good with the bad and simply shrug it off
